BAKER, Thomas George (Bonnie)

Age 96, of Fergus Ontario, passed away peacefully on June 3rd, surrounded by family at Groves Memorial Hospital. Tom is survived by wife Mary Baker (Butowski), son Michael Baker (Linda), daughter Patrice Baker (Stephen Crawford), and grandchildren Katreena Baker (Jon Millett), Owen Baker, Chloe Crawford, and uncle to Lois Dewitt, Brent Butowski and Tommy Butowski. Tom was born in Winnipeg Manitoba to George and Eva Baker on March 4, 1930. He worked in Kenora Ontario for 17 years as a steam locomotive engineer/fireman for CPR until graduating from the Manitoba Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering. He and his family then moved to Peterborough, Ontario, where he worked for the Canadian General Electric Company for 30 years. A move to Fergus Ontario in 2010 brought him and Mary near children and grandchildren, where he became a staunch supporter of the Guelph Storm. He attended many Blue Jays games, curled, played cards, wood-worked, fished, attended any bagpiping event, and told stories. Celebration of Life to be held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus, on Wednesday, June 24 at 11am. Refreshments and fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Groves Memorial Hospital or Fergus Curling Club would be appreciated. Tom’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Groves Memorial Hospital with special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mark Easterbrook (and colleagues at Summit Medical Centre) and Dr. Chris Lund for their compassionate care. Arrangements are entrusted with Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home.
