As the artist sees it exhibit comes to Alton

ALTON — Headwaters Arts Gallery will be presenting As the Artist Sees It, a powerhouse of paintings by 10 Headwaters Arts members featuring over 40 paintings in a variety of mediums including: acrylic, oil, watercolour ink and scratchboard.

The participating artists are: Lynden Cowan, oil; Steve Wilson, acrylic; Michelle Eissler, oil; Helen Duplassie, acrylic; Janice Ykema, acrylic; Robert Chisholm, acrylic; Joanne Lomas, acrylics, inks and watercolour; Margaret Sarah Pardy, scratchboard; Charlene Nickels, watercolour and Daureen Murphy, acrylic.

“We are bound to each other with our love of creating, and each of us approach our subject differently. This is evident in each of our styles, be it realism, semi-realistic, abstract or whimsical,” said Cowan.

Many of the participating artists have exhibited internationally, and most have been juried into major exhibits such as the Salt Spring and Paint Ontario. Last year Wilson and Cowan tied for third place in the American Art awards out of 66 Countries, and Cowan also achieved a fourth-place honour.

Participating artists Cowan, Eissler, Chisholm, Pardy have their art studio’s on the second floor in the Alton Mill Arts Centre and all of the painters are members of the Southern Ontario Visual Artists group.

As the Artist Sees It runs from Oct. 4 to Nov. 5.

The Headwaters Arts Gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am. to 5pm, Alton Mill Arts Centre, 1402 Queen Street West, Alton, Ontario.
