Arthur Aces U9 team wins provincial gold

KENILWORTH – On Oct. 20 Wellington North council welcomed the Arthur Aces U9 #2 squad to its meeting to recognize the team for winning the U9 “F” gold medal at the 2025 Ontario Box Lacrosse Provincial Championships.

The team travelled to the Durham Region from Aug. 3 to 5 for the event, winning all five games in group play before qualifying for the playoff round.

In the semi-final, the Aces defeated Six Nations #2 by a score of 7-5, and they defeated Centre Wellington by a score of 10-4 in the championship game.

Team members include Ethan Murr, Cullen Johnson, Sam Clark, Alexander Densmore, Tommy Boggs, Brynnlee Courts, Carson Campbell, Jordan Luty, Ben Densmore, Pearce McCann, MJ Vidler, Josephine Meredith, Avery Evans, Wesley Parsons, Weston Presswood, Conrad Wagner, Paislee Gibson, head coach Doug Gibson, coaches Tim Boggs, Ryan Densmore and Braidyn Vidler, and manager Kaleigh Gibson.

Coach Gibson said while the team “won provincials in the end, we did have a tough time gaining traction through the regular season.

“We struggled to get some wins in the beginning, but towards the end of the season we won our own playoffs and then went on and won the provincial playoffs,” he said.

“I couldn’t be more proud of how these guys have represented Arthur.”

“On behalf of Wellington North council, staff and residents, I extend our congratulations to the Arthur Aces,” said Mayor Andy Lennox.

He called each player forward individually during the meeting to present them with a certificate.

“To win a provincial championship is no easy feat, and you should be proud of your accomplishment,” Lennox said.

“You’re great representatives of Wellington North, and your community is proud of you.”
