ARMSTRONG, Leslie Curwood
Somewhere beyond the trees and open fields, where the stories are long, the MacLean’s is always cold, and the moose are plentiful, Les has reunited with his Dad in the great deer blind in the sky. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie Curwood Armstrong on May 27, 2026, at the age of 65. Predeceased by his father, Terry Armstrong. Les leaves behind his loving mother, Adele; his beloved son, Alex Toulouse(Megan); and treasured grandson, Harrison, whose adventures he proudly followed from afar on Google Maps. He will be dearly missed by his sisters, Adrienne Marlow (Stephen) and Teresa Haydon (Ron); his brother, Andy; many nieces and nephews; and his loyal furry companion, Henry the cat. Named in honour of his late grandfather Leslie, and carrying the middle name Curwood in tribute to his fallen soldier uncle, Curwood Armstrong, Les carried family pride throughout his life. Les worked for many years with American Standard in Toronto and later with Hammond Manufacturing in Guelph, where he formed lasting friendships. In Fergus, he built a life filled with good neighbours, workplace friends, and quiet acts of kindness — tending to the community garden and feeding birds from his balcony while Henry looked on. A lifelong Montreal Canadiens fan, vinyl collector, crossword enthusiast, and frisbee trickster, Les appreciated life’s simple pleasures: good music, family stories, and sports chats. In his younger years, he loved basketball, lacrosse, motorcycles, dirt bikes, and the annual hunting trips shared with the Armstrong clan — traditions and memories that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He will be profoundly missed by the entire Armstrong family and by all who knew him. Go Habs Go. May the forces of good be with you, always. A celebration of life will be held in late summer. In honour of Les, donations may be made to Grey Bruce Hospice - Chapman House or Brightshores Health System.
