Arena board advertising approved
Victim Services Wellington County will be getting a grant from Minto for arena board advertising in the Harriston-Minto community complex, the Palmerston community centre and the Clifford arena for the 2010 season.
The grant is not to exceed $675.
Mayor David Anderson said Victim Services is a group in the community that does a lot of good work.
“I really didn’t know how important they were to our community until the couple times (in recent years) the Harriston trailer park flooded.”
Anderson commented on how well members of that group assisted and helped residents - not only providing comfort, but feeding them, and making arrangements for places to stay until it was safe to return to their homes.
“I think this is a very valid recognition for what they do.”
Anderson added there are a number of local people who volunteer, including staff.
“They are an important part of our community and always willing to assist us.”
Council approved the recommendation.
