The main street here will be closed to traffic, but open for business from May 30 to mid-October for a major road reconstruction project on Elora Street.

Detour signs will show travellers the way to the bank, stores and restaurants in the village.

From the north, the detour route will go from the Redwood corner to the Lakelet Road, left to the water tower, left onto Park Street and right back out on Highway 9 to Harriston.

The Town of Minto is encouraging residents and visitors to pick up a Clifford, “We’re Diggin’ It” passport offering discounts and services from 15 local businesses and chances to win prizes in monthly draws leading to the grand prize draw on Oct. 9.

The Minto Chamber of Commerce encourages everyone to “get caught shopping downtown” to win a $10 gift certificate from a local merchant.

Before calling the town office at 519-338-2511 looking for information regarding the big dig, try accessing www.cliffordidgginit.ca for work details and updates.

“We are all in this together – residents, merchants, Town of Minto, Minto Chamber of Commerce, Triton Engineering and Moorefield Excavating,”  said Economic development manager Belinda Wick-Graham.
