WellingtonAdvertiser celebrates anniversary, digitization project

Over 200 people were on hand to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Wellington Advertiser on April 4 at the county museum.

Dignitaries,  residents, Newspaper staff and readers at the event were also able to check out the  museum’s new digitization project, which  allows online users to search every edition of the Advertiser going back to 1968.

“Our staff at the county  are very proud to work with the Wellington Advertiser to do this and provide this information for not only the next few years, but almost forever,” said county councillor Shawn Watters, chair of the county’s information, heritage and seniors committee.

Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott, one of several speakers during at the April 4 event, lauded the Advertiser for its contributions to local democracy.

“Your coverage of local News and events not only keeps us informed, but it also binds us together as a community, giving us a common point of reference upon which to discern, understand and to act,” Arnott said.

“Yours is one of the finest in the whole country, and you have earned our trust, our respect and our support. We greatly appreciate all that you do, and all that you represent.”
