Wellington Catholic selects chair and vice chair for coming year

GUELPH – Trustees with the Wellington Catholic District School Board selected their chair and vice chair for the coming year at the board’s inaugural meeting on Dec. 2.

Returning as chair is Marino Gazzola for his 17th year as the senior elected official for the Wellington Catholic School Board.

Gazzola has served as a trustee since 1990.

“Our Wellington Catholic District School Board schools have a long standing tradition of academic excellence, inclusion, faith formation and service to others and the community,” Gazzola said after the election.

“Innovative programs and supports allow us to reach students in effective and exciting ways.

“I am grateful for the confidence placed in me by my fellow trustees to serve as chair.”

Vikki Dupuis is the new vice chair.

“Together we will continue to ensure extraordinary education for our students,” Dupuis said. “It is an honour and privilege to work with a progressive senior team and dedicated educators and support staff, who are committed to the success of every student.

“We will continue to ensure success for students, and staff, along with successful systems of support in Guelph and Wellington County.”

Dupuis has served the Wellington Catholic District School Board for 25 years and is the recipient of the Ontario Catholic Trustees Association Trustee Award of Merit (2019).
