Waste facilities remain open through provincial shutdown

WELLINGTON COUNTY – All County waste facilities will remain open during the provincial shutdown.

Wellington County announced on April 1 that waste facilities will be operating with their regular operating hours. However, reuse centres remain closed at all sites until further notice.

Residents are encouraged to continue using curbside collection service for regular household waste, to respect the province’s guidance and reduce interactions with staff.

Trips to waste facilities should be reserved for the disposal of materials that cannot be managed through curbside collection service, officials state.

Enhanced safety protocols remaining in effect at waste facilities include:

  a request to use credit or debit for payment, preferably the tap function;

– maintain physical distancing, and be expedient on site;

– use of masks or face (mouth/nose) coverings is strongly encouraged; and

– as always, follow staff directions.

“The health and safety of the public and staff is the top priority at County waste facilities. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we collectively work through this challenging period together,” county officials state.
