Employee, 63, charged in Nov. 19 bomb threat at Fergus Walmart

FERGUS – Police have now charged a Walmart employee in connection with a bomb threat at the business three weeks ago.

On Nov. 19 at about 1pm Wellington County OPP responded to a threat made against the Fergus Walmart on St. David Street North in Fergus,

Police did not disclose the nature of the threat at the time, but a Dec. 11 press release stated “a note” found at the scene indicated there was “a bomb” in the building.

The business was evacuated and nearby St. Joseph’s Catholic School was put in a hold and secure position.

About an hour later the threat was deemed a hoax and the business reopened and the hold and secure was lifted.

Marjorie Anne Gray, 63, of Fergus, was charged with uttering threats, falsifying information and mischief.

She is to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 14.
