Trucker”™s Olympics returns for 2014 show

The Trucker’s Olympics, introduced at the 2013 Fergus Truck Show, is returning for the 2014 event. The 2013 event served as a fundraiser for Special Olympics, while this year’s Olympics is being held in support of breast cancer awarness.

Gord Baird of Challenger Motor Freight, together with co-workers Todd Hallissey and Leonard Taylor, created the Trucker’s Olympics, a fun event that puts truck drivers through their paces to have a laugh and support a good cause.

The Trucker’s Olympics, to be held on July 26, will consist of two-person teams performing a series of relay events including such things as a tire run, rolling tires around pylons, chaining-up winter tires, log cutting and other challenges.

The participants will be timed and prizes will be awarded.

Registration for the Trucker’s Olympics will take place at the truck show. Participation costs $10 per person, with all proceeds going to breast cancer awarness efforts.

Other action-oriented events at the 2014 Fergus Truck Show include truck, tractor and lawn tractor pulls.

The popular demolition derby sponsored by Impact Motor Sports wraps up the event, beginning at 2pm on July 27.
