Trillium grant allows Guelph Tool Library more chance to engage with community

GUELPH – On Dec. 3, local MPP Mike Schreiner visited the Repair Cafe at the Guelph Tool Library to celebrate the $78,500 Resilient Communities fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) that was used to develop their Community Engagement and Outreach Strategy and put new community programs and workshops in place.

The project will be completed in April of 2023, and will continue to provide programs like workshops, Repair Café’s, and events that encourage swapping, sharing, and embracing a circular economy.

“As the Member of Provincial Parliament for Guelph, I want to congratulate the Guelph Tool Library for receiving a Resilient Communities Fund Grant,” said MPP Mike Schreiner.

“I have had the privilege of working alongside the Guelph Tool Library on many different occasions and am always impressed with the extent to which they go above and beyond to support our community in such a sustainable way. This grant will allow them to continue serving the people of Guelph through their many initiatives. Thanks to the Tool Library for the continued hard work!”

In addition to these engaging programs, the increased staffing capacity at the Guelph Tool Library has provided them with the ability to train more volunteers and increase operating hours.

The Guelph Tool Library has seen an increase in membership sales and overall usage.

They now support 575 members, with a goal of reaching 650 members by the end of April of 2023.

Program coordinator Steph Clarke states, “This funding has not only increased our staff capacity and ability to deliver services, it has given us the room to redevelop our strategies and adapt to the changing needs of our community.”

The Guelph Tool Library mission is “A world where communities find joy in sharing.”
