Tree Trust has a ‘green’ gift idea

ELORA – Have someone on your gift-giving list who has everything?

Ask yourself this – Do they have a town’s-worth of well-maintained trees?

That’s what a gift card from Tree Trust gives, in a way.

For the second year Tree Trust is issuing gift cards in $25, $50 and $100 denominations. These are, in fact, donations that will help the organization steward mature trees in the community.

This work is carried out by skilled arborists who determine the measures needed to support a tree’s overall architecture and extend its valuable life. Two saplings are planted as understudies for every tree in the program.

Tree Trust is growing and now includes six communities — Centre Wellington, Meaford, Stratford-Perth, Town of The Blue Mountain, Toronto Island Community, and Waterloo Region.

Tree Trust Gift Cards can be purchased online at TreeTrust.ca, which will issue a charitable tax receipt. Printed gift cards, ready for tucking into a card or a stocking, will be mailed to purchasers.
