Township launches updated Butter Tart Trail

When it comes to promoting the local area, one might consider it love at first bite.

The 2009 Wellington North Butter Tart Trail Guide was launched July 4 with an official ribbon cutting and local tours as part of the new Festival along the Butter Tart Trail.

The event included community breakfasts and baking contests. Though the turnout at the Mount Forest Sportsplex was not exactly what was hoped for, organizers remained optimistic.

“We’re just hoping for another successful year,” said Wellington North Mayor Mike Broomhead. He looked forward to the testing of the butter tarts to determine the best ones in the township.

He also hoped those attending enjoyed a good day at the event. He said a number of people had signed up for  bus tours of the area later that day.

Tourism, marketing and promotions manager Donna Jack had similar sentiments.

“We just welcome visitors and residents alike to come out to the Butter Tart Trail and take a nice scenic country tour drive, with unique stops along the way.
