Culture Days 2020 a month-long celebration in Town of Minto

MINTO – The Town of Minto is in the midst of a month-long celebration of Culture Days, with a wide range of in-person and online events planned for people of all ages and interests.

A Tie-Dye T-Shirt Party at Lions Heritage Park in Palmerston on Sept. 25 was the first in a series of local 2020 Culture Days events that conclude on Oct. 25.

The theme for this year’s province-wide celebration of culture and communities is “Unexpected Intersections.”

A committee of the Minto Cultural Round Table has been planning events to entertain and bring local people together.

Upcoming online events include jewelry making and train-themed Lego building, along with sewing and cooking seminars.

This weekend a Come and Create Workshop on painting pumpkins will be held on Oct. 4 at the Harriston Community Complex at 2pm.

Other upcoming in-person events include poetry with Katherine and drumming with John and an astronomy demonstration with Gord Duff at Palmerston Lions Park on Oct. 9 (this is a pop-up event, weather dependant).

The fourth annual Harriston Superior Monuments Headstone Hunt is a self-guided trip through local cemeteries. Veterans and the fallen are the theme and the event wraps up with a celebration of veterans at the Clifford Community Centre from 10am to 2pm on Oct. 24.

An Unexpected Intersection painted stone hunt is underway in local parks and downtown areas. Culture Days volunteers have placed painted stones around Minto and the public is invited to submit two photos showing the most unique pairing to #mintoculturedays2020 to be entered in a draw for a chance to win a $25 Minto Bucks gift card.
