Thriving businesses

As we’ve been working towards completing one Business Leader magazine and collecting story ideas for the next, I’ve been blown away by the number of potential stories we have on tap.

The economic development and innovative businesses we have here in Wellington County are quite remarkable. Never did I expect to have so many interesting ideas that we would have to be so picky about what goes in each issue. Yet this also allows us to better schedule upcoming issues. It’s refreshing and promising.

Economic development is a key factor to thriving communities and in Wellington we’re doing well.  And it’s not just new businesses. As you’ve seen through this column, there are numerous businesses celebrating big anniversaries.

Take North Wellington Co-operative Services as an example. The business is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. On July 13 the Co-op is offering a celebration at all of its locations (the head office in Harriston, with sites in Mount Forest, Durham and Hanover). The events will include barbecues, face painting, bouncy castles and dunk tanks, as well as sales and specials.

The events take place from 11am to 2pm at all four branches.
