The Shawn Connerys Band offering free rooftop concert

ELORA – What do you do when your band can no longer play festivals, pubs, bars and music venues?

Well, if you are The Shawn Connerys Band, you socially distance yourselves from your audience and play from a rooftop.

On Aug. 8 starting at 5pm, The Shawn Connerys Band will play from the top of the Karger Gallery in Elora.

The street will be closed to vehicle traffic, so people can stroll by and have a listen, sit on a patio, or bring a lawn chair.

Browse through the newly renovated Karger Gallery and visit local shops and restaurants while enjoying the sound of live music in the air.

Listeners are urged to keep two meters apart unless with their social bubble and masks are mandatory inside all commercial establishments.

If you are from Centre Wellington you likely know The Shawn Connerys as Grant Farrell and Michael Raab, who have been playing locally for the past 16 years.

In 2014, they recorded their first album of original songs, Town Secrets. In 2019 they fulfilled an ambition to have a full band by joining up with Fergus rhythm section, drummer Ryan Young and bassist Peter Mandic.

The band is receiving no compensation for this event. After having all gigs cancelled, including Templin Gardens and The Barn at the Museum of Archives, they simply want their community to enjoy live music again in a safe and responsible way.
