The bard is back: ECT presents ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ at Bissell Park

ELORA – Elora Community Theatre (ECT) is ready to launch its 8th annual Shakespeare in the Park.

This year the players will be performing Shakespeare’s most popular comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Officials say audience members can enjoy a safe, socially distant afternoon or evening in the open air with friends and family as some of Shakespeare’s most beloved and befuddled characters journey through a magical forest, where fairies frolic and the woods truly do have eyes.

ECT brings an engaging and entertaining adaptation the whole family is sure to enjoy, organizers say.

“Romantic, magical and unforgettable, this timeless play is guaranteed to keep audiences spellbound,” states a press release from organizers.

“It’s always delightful to hear generous comments from either surprised first-time attendees or the loyal fans who come year after year to enjoy the show.”

COVID-19 protocols will be in effect.

The play runs over two weekends in Elora’s Bissell Park: Aug. 20 to 22 and 27 to 29. Friday shows begin at 8pm. There are two shows on Saturdays and Sundays, at 3pm and 8pm.

Tickets are $20 plus HST and available online at https://eloracentreforthearts.ca.

Tickets will also be available at the door the day of the performance (cash only).
