Teenie Tiny Tots shop takes Pitch It prize

Teenie Tiny Tots Childrens Shop is the winner of the 2016 Pitch It! Business Plan Competition.

The business owned by Angela Christensen was started in downtown Palmerston in 2008 and has already undergone one expansion.

Christensen is currently preparing for a second expansion into a larger storefront in downtown Palmerston.

“I would like to thank the Economic Development Committee and all the Pitch It supporters and sponsors for their support and guidance throughout the competition,” states Christenson.

“This competition gave me the opportunity to learn more about my business and the community and has greatly contributed to our future success.”

Christensen said she would “highly recommend” that other businesses take part in future events and “benefit from the knowledge and experience” the Economic Development Committee and LaunchIt can provide to support their business.

“I appreciate the support I have received throughout my first eight years in business and look forward to serving the local community for many years to come,” said Christensen.

The Town of Minto initiated the competition in 2012 in an effort to grow small businesses in Minto and increase awareness of the resources available. Now in its 5th year, the competition is geared towards entrepreneurs that wish to open, purchase, expand or re-locate an existing business within the Town of Minto.

Six entries were received for the competition and four finalists submitted full business plans and made presentations to the judges in early June.

“Each year we are thrilled with the submissions we receive. It is great to see new businesses being started, as well as our existing businesses looking to expand,” said Belinda Wick-Graham, economic development manager.

In addition to Teenie Tiny Tots Childrens Shop, finalists were: Stay Tuned Guitar Repair, Glass on a Wire by Susan Cowtan and Minto Artists Gallery and Cooperative.

Through the support of community sponsors, all finalists will receive over $1,500 worth of prizes and the winner will take home over $12,500 in cash and prizes.
