Tea time

A new tea shop is coming to Elora. However, The Wild Tart,  will be more than your average tea shop. Located at 61 Metcalfe Street and opening on Oct. 12, it is the brain child of Dominique and Geoffrey Wild (general manager of the Elora Mill) and executive pastry chef Marc Collyer.

Filling the void created by the closure of Secret Garden (also located at 61 Metcalfe Street), the Wild Tart is a welcome addition to the Elora restaurant scene.

While it’s exciting for new businesses to open in any downtown, it’s especially exciting when those opening the business choose to stay in the community versus leaving for a different opportunity.

In his online biography, Marc said he was thinking about moving back to England so that he could once again create for afternoon tea – and that’s when Geoffrey and Dominique told him about the Wild Tart. Now he will be creating afternoon tea in a Canadian setting.

It’s always powerful when you hear  about someone who immigrates to your community and then chooses to stay even when they have an opportunity in another country. It makes me feel proud of our community here.

You better believe I will be checking out the Wild Tart. One of my greatest pleasures is an elegant afternoon of tea and snacks with my best friends. I’m sure the Wild Tart will offer many such opportunities for the entire community.
