GUELPH – Hospice Wellington announced on June 7 that the organization netted over $37,000 from its 15th Annual Hike for Hospice, presented by the Guelph Garage Owners Association.
On June 2 in Guelph’s Riverside Park, participants wore their colourful shirts proudly as they enjoyed a barbecue, local vendors, and visited tents that showcased Hospice Wellington’s programs and services.
An Art Therapy tent featured the Youth Legacy Project collaboration and allowed people to participate in the annual Community Weave Project.
The Integrated Wellness tent offered a chance to try the complementary therapies that are available to residents of Guelph-Wellington, free-of-charge.
These included Massage Therapy, Therapeutic Touch®, Reiki and Therapy Dogs.
Participants then headed off for a 1.37km walk around the Speed River Trail.
“We feel so fortunate to have a community that supports us in everything we do, including events like Hike for Hospice. We have the best staff and volunteers that are always there to jump in when we need them and that’s such a wonderful feeling,” says Pat Stuart, Executive Director at Hospice Wellington.
Hospice Wellington provides and promotes hospice palliative care for individuals and their families in Guelph and Wellington County.
