Suspicious remains located by Stafford investigators

Members of the Stafford Homicide Investigative team assisted by the OPP Forensic Identification Unit remain on scene on Concession 6 North, Arthur Township near Mt. Forest Detachment where remains believed to be that of a young child have been located. 

Police located the scene on the 19th of July following up on information when a member of the investigative team discovered what appears to be human remains. 

The area has been cordoned off by OPP and access has been restricted to police personnel.

Police are working with the Ontario Chief Coroners Office and the Centre of Forensic Sciences in an effort to positively identify the remains.  Members of the Stafford Investigation consisting of Oxford Community Police and OPP members have been committed to the investigation and are continuing further follow up.  Chief Rod Freeman OPP Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Inspector Bill Renton will make an official statement to the media once confirmation of the remains has been established.  “At this point we are hopeful that we will be able to honour the life of Victoria Stafford by reuniting her with her loved ones in Woodstock” stated Detective Inspector Renton.
