At about 1:30am, a suspect was taken into custody near the scene of the collision.

Justin McMillan, 31, of Kitchener, was charged with driving while prohibited (six counts), driving while suspended (two counts), possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, failing to comply with a probation order and possession of break-in instruments.

He is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
