Rockwood man faces theft, weapon, drug charges

ROCKWOOD – A local man faces theft, weapon and drug charges after police executed a search warrant at a Rockwood home this week.

On Oct. 28, Halton Regional Police Service officers concluded an investigation into a vehicle stole from Milton and conducted the search warrant at a house on Princess Street in Rockwood.

Police say officers recovered the stolen vehicle and seized a snowmobile stolen from Wellington County, a gun and replica firearms, ammunition, cocaine, methamphetamines and purple fentanyl.

Joseph Evans, 27, of Rockwood, was charged with:

  • theft over $5,000;
  • possession of property obtained by crime;
  • driving while prohibited;
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm;
  • contravention of storage regulations;
  • careless storage of a firearm;
  • possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order;
  • failing to comply with a probation order;
  • possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • possession of fentanly for the purpose of trafficking; and
  • possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Courtney Duchesne-Bloom, 22, of Durham was charged with:

  • unauthorized possession of a firearm;
  • contravention of storage regulations;
  • careless storage of a firearm;
  • possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order; and
  • failing to comply with a probation order.

Both were held for a bail hearing.

A 2019 Dodge Ram was impounded for 180 days under the vehicle impoundment program.
