Sixth annual Shamrock Shuffle run and walk is May 24

The sixth annual Erin Shamrock Shuffle 5km and 10km road race and walk for family health, kicks off at 8:30am on May 24 at Centre 2000 with more than 150 run­ners and walkers expected to participate.

New this year, Shamrock Shuf­flers can run or walk for free when they collect $125 in pledges.

Registrations and pledges will aid East Wellington Com-munity Services to support fam­ilies and the Erin District High School’s new cardio studio for student athletes.

Walkers and runners of all abilities, including elite runners are invited to take part in 2.5, 5, 10km walk or runs. Children under 12 are encouraged to come out too and participate in a special 1km fun run. Walkers and their pooches can enjoy a new doggie walk. The easy-going flat course starts out from Centre 2000 and takes runners past the shops on the Main Street and on to the Elora to Cataract Trailway.

After the run, participants have a pancake breakfast, race kits, and prizes for top place finishers as well as draw prizes.

Also new this year, prizes will be awarded for pledges collected. Other pledge prizes include can a 90-minute com­bat mission for two in a Hornet combat flight simulator with $1,500 in pledges or collect $2,000 and a family of four will enjoy a one night family stay at the Great Wolf Lodge and Waterpark in Niagara Falls.
