‘Santa’s Drive-Thru’ to replace traditional parade in Puslinch

ABERFOYLE – The annual Puslinch Santa Claus Parade will be replaced with a new event this year to comply with ongoing COVID-19 restrictions and protocols.

“Santa’s Drive-Thru in Puslinch” will take place on Nov. 22 at the Puslinch Community Centre in Aberfoyle.

“The Optimist Club of Puslinch welcomes your participation and hopes you will enjoy your drive-thru experience and chance to see Santa, in this new format,” club officials stated in a Sept. 29 press release.

“It’s all about the kids.”

Residents are invited to drive along the route any time from 2 to 3:30pm to see “many floats and friendly and funny mascots, clowns and elves and, of course, the jolly old guy himself, Santa”.

Officials hope to provide each child with a goody bag and children are encouraged to bring their letters to Santa. All letters with a return address will receive a reply, officials say.

“There is no cost, but we do encourage you to bring a donation to the food bank which can be collected at the end of the route,” states the release.

Event organizers are offering the following guidelines to families, clubs, organizations or businesses interested in entering a float:

  • entries should have a theme to and clearly display whose float it is;
  • no people will be allowed on floats (entrants will be able to park one vehicle next to the float, stay inside and wave from there);
  • advance confirmation is required; and
  • parade participants will be assigned a staggered time slot for arrival of floats.
