Russells reopening as a market on Sept. 10

The Fergus Area Community Enterprise (face) group has announce that the town will very soon be home to Fergus Community Market, a venue that will offer, meats, fish, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, baking, and a number of selected craft vendors located in inside and outdoor booths.

The market is located right on St. Andrew Street, the main street in Fergus.

The market will be housed in a three storey, stone (around the 1880s) structure, formerly Russell’s department store. The developers have kept the tin ceilings and exposed stone walls to create a true old-fashioned country-style market.

Vendors already include those passionate about locally grown produce and products. They also believe in the viability of a traditional downtown retail experience.

A café, free weekly live entertainment, and special street events are planned for the market. Market days will be Thursday through Sunday. The organizers have planned their opening for the night of the annual Antique & Classic Car Show on Sept. 10.

Space in the is filling quickly, but, with three large floors to fill, FACE is currently seeking other traditional, creative or unusual vendors.

Visitor benefits include enjoying a traditional main street shopping experience.
