Rotary holds third annual Grand Taste at museum

The Rotary Club of Centre Wellington is hosting its third annual program, A Grand Taste of the Culinary Arts, on April 27.

The Sunday event will be held from noon to 4pm at the Wellington County Museum and Archives, between Fergus and Elora.

Proceeds from the Grand Taste will be shared by Groves Hospital CT Scan fundraising campaign and Centre Wellington Rotary’s local and international projects.

A Grand Taste will showcase local talents and resources in the culinary arts, food, and beverage production. Local fine dining and casual dinning restaurants will offer samples of their cuisine. Chefs’ demonstrations and seminars will be offered throughout the afternoon. Demonstration space is limited so attendees are encouraged to sign up for the “in-kitchen” sessions when they arrive.

Centre Wellington Rotary Club welcomes back Baileys, the Breadalbane Inn, The Goofie Newfie, The Log Cabin Heaven Spa, Alex’s Restaurant, The Elora General Store, The Brew House and The Shepherd’s Pub.  Joining the presentation for 2008 are Fountain Head Cafe, Van Gali’s, 13 Mill St., The Elora Mill, and Grand River Caterers.

Tickets for A Grand Taste are $25 per person, and include coupons for a sample dish from each featured restaurant. To experience a wider range of tasting, additional coupons may be purchased. Sample coupons will also be offered for the sampling of Vineyard wine and beer from F & M Brewery.

Each entry ticket will also qualify for valuable and delectable door prizes. A Grand Taste will also include a silent auction focusing on the food, cuisine and entertainment theme including gift certificates from many of the participating restaurants.

Tickets are available in Fergus at the Scotiabank, Royal Bank, Chamber of Commerce office, Minuteman Press, and in Elora at the Information Centre, The General Store, Little Katy Variety, or from Centre Wellington Rotarians.

Sponsors for A Grand Taste are the Scotiabank and Royal Bank.

The Rotary Club of Centre Wellington, chartered in April 2005, meets at 7:10am Thursdays at the Elora Gorge Restaurant. Rotary, an international service organization founded in 1905, now has over 31,000 clubs worldwide.
