Public meeting set on proposed user fees

Puslinch Township is hosting a meeting on Sept. 17 to get public input on proposed 2016 user fees and a proposed grant application policy.

Councillors were reminded of the meeting at the Sept. 2 council meeting.

The public information meeting on Sept. 17 is at the Puslinch Community Centre at 7pm.

Councillor Susan Fielding said she had earlier asked staff that affected groups be not only notified, but given an exact accounting of the financial impact.

When asked if that happened, CAO Karen Landry said the financial department is working on it to hopefully distribute shortly.

Fielding then asked if the information could be forwarded to council as well.

Mayor Dennis Lever noted any figures would be based on previous/proposed costs based on last year’s usage of facilities.

Fielding said she believed it was important for community groups to be very clear on the impact the fees will have and what the new financial obligations would be.

Lever agreed it is not only important for the people involved, but for taxpayers at large.
