Popular virtual cookbook now in print format

‘Little Bites: Tastes from Isolation’ features dishes from across Wellington County

GUELPH – Due to popular demand, a free virtual cookbook launched in May is now printed and available for purchase, with $5 from each book sale going towards The SEED Community Food Hub.

The original idea was a way for food lovers to make some of their favourite dishes from restaurants, food businesses and farmers in Wellington County while staying home safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Culinary tour operator Taste Detours came up with the initiative – Little Bites: Tastes from Isolation – as a show of appreciation and support for members of the local food scene who have been significantly affected by public health restrictions to ensure physical distancing.

The cookbook initially featured online recipes for several meal pairings each week, which were submitted by restaurants, farmers and food businesses across Wellington County.

The book is illustrated by local artist Jenna Kessler.

The recipes in Little Bites: Tastes from Isolation and the completed digital cookbook will remain housed on the tour operator’s website, tastedetours.ca for free download.

To pickup a copy of the printed version in person, Taste Detours founder Lynn Broughton will be at the following locations:

  • Aug. 8 from 10:30am to 12:30pm outside of Ten Carden in Guelph;
  • Aug. 8 from 2pm to 4pm at Elora Mercantile in Elora; and
  • Aug. 12 from 4 to 6pm on the patio at Atmosphere cafe + etc.

The book will also be available for purchase online at The Bookshelf towards the end of August, and when the bookstore re-opens its doors next month.
