Police looking to identify person(s) responsible for slashing tires on 17 vehicles

FERGUS – Police are looking for help to catch the individual(s) responsible for slashing the tires on 17 vehicles here over the weekend.

Wellington County OPP officials say police were called on Sept. 22 at about 8am by a woman who had the tires slashed on two vehicles on Elkin Court in Fergus.

Several other vehicles in the area were also damaged.

Police say that sometime between Sept. 21 at 11pm and Sept. 22 at 5am, someone slashed the tires on at least 10 vehicles in driveways on Elkin Court, Inett Way and Harcourt Place – located in the subdivision behind the Fergus Shoppers Drug Mart at the corner of Highway 6 (Tower Street South) and Belsyde Avenue.

Seven other vehicles in a nearby condominium parking lot on St. David Street South also had tires slashed.

“This is the second incident in approximately two weeks that the same parking lot was targeted by … criminals,” states an OPP press release.

On Sept. 7 the tires were slashed on five vehicles in the same parking lot on St. David Street South.
