Police investigating rash of break-ins across county

Local police are investigating a number of recent break-ins across Wellington County.

PALMERSTON – On July 9 at about 1pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a break and enter at a residence on Whites Road here.

Police say that sometime between July 8 at 11pm and July 9 at about 6am, someone  entered an apartment through a main floor window and stole an Apple iPad mini in a blue leather case.

PUSLINCH – On July 9 at about 4:30pm, Wellington County OPP received a report of a break-in that occurred the previous week at a residence on Concession 1 here.

Police say that sometime between 9:15 and 10:40am on July 3, someone entered the house through an open garage door and stole the victim’s purse, including all her identification, cash and credit cards.

“This theft occurred while the victim was out for a walk and her husband was working in the backyard,” police stated in a press release.

“This is a crime of opportunity. OPP encourage residents to keep their doors closed and locked even when at home and working outside.”

ARTHUR – On July 13 at about 2:40am, Wellington County OPP responded to an alarm call at the LCBO on Wellington Road 109 here.

“Upon arrival police confirmed that the business had been broken into and determined that suspects gained entry through the roof,” police stated, noting “a quantity” of alcohol was stolen.

Wellington County OPP and the OPP Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.

PUSLINCH – On July 19 at about 7:10pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Watson Road South here.

Police say that sometime between 2:30 and 7pm someone smashed a window and front door to gain entry to the house and stole “a quantity of property including jewelry and Canadian currency.”
