Stolen motorcycle recovered

FERGUS – On Dec. 8 at about 2:05pm, Wellington County OPP commenced an investigation into a motorcycle that was parked at an address on St. David Street North here.

“The motorcycle, which appeared to be freshly painted with household paint was bearing an Ontario licence plate that was reported as stolen out of Waterloo Region,” police stated in a press release.

“Further investigation revealed that motorcycle was also stolen.  During the course of the investigation an individual approached the officers and identified themselves as the owner of the motorcycle, at which time they were placed under arrest.”

Maciej Sadlon, 36, of Guelph, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime (under $5,000) and is to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 15.

 

Teens found in trunk of car at RIDE program

GUELPH – On Dec. 12 at about 11:30pm, Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on the Hanlon Expressway near Wellington Street here.

Police say that while speaking with one driver, officers detected an odour of suspected cannabis coming from within the vehicle.

“Further investigation revealed that one of the passengers was in possession of an open container of liquor,” police stated in a press release. “During a search, police discovered two additional passengers that were riding in the trunk of the car.”

In total, there were seven occupants in the vehicle.

Two 18-year-olds from Toronto and Oakville were charged with failing to occupy a position with a seatbelt.

A 19-year-old passenger from Oakville was charged with having an open container of alcohol.

A 19-year-old passenger from Oakville was charged with unlawful purchase of cannabis.

 

Drug charges

MOUNT FOREST – On Nov. 28 at about 3:30pm, a Wellington County OPP officer stopped the driver of a rental truck on Main Street South here.

Police say the driver, arrested on an outstanding warrant, was in possession of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.

Police also seized “drug distribution paraphernalia” and Canadian currency.

Randy Lee Matheson, 36, of Southgate Township, was charged with three counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was held for bail hearing.

 

Marijuana charges

MOUNT FOREST – On Dec. 2 at about 1:20am, Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on Main Street near Grant Street here.

Police say officers spoke to the occupants of the vehicle and detected the odour of suspected marijuana.

“During the investigation, police observed a marijuana joint and a plastic baggie containing marijuana bud,” police stated in a press release.

Police say officers searched the vehicle and occupants and found a large quantity of Canadian currency as well as digital scales and several glass jars containing suspected marijuana bud.

Kaeshon Anand, 25, of Whitby was charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution and driving with cannabis readily available.

He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 5.

 

Suspended driver

MAPLETON – On Dec.  6 at about 1:25pm a Wellington County OPP officer investigated the driver of a vehicle on Wellington Road 12 near Wellington Road 7 for an alleged driving infraction.

Police say the officer spoke with the driver, who was allegedly driving while suspended, and placed him under arrest.

Gordon Paul Newman, 28, of Ayton, was charged with speeding, driving while prohibited and two counts of driving while suspended. He is to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 8.

The vehicle was impounded  for 45 days.
