Palmerston resident charged twice in two days
NORTH PERTH – A Palmerston resident was charged twice within 48 hours by police in connection with two separate incidents here recently.
On March 25 at about 5:30pm, Perth County OPP responded to a report of a break-in at a house in North Perth.
“The people involved were known to each other,” police stated in a press release. “During the investigation, it was determined that the accused damaged the victim’s door. The victim did not sustain any injuries.”
A 24-year-old resident of Palmerston was arrested and charged with mischief (domestic).
Two days later, on March 27, just before 6pm, Perth County OPP was called about a domestic incident at an address on Krotz Street West in Listowel.
The same Palmerston resident was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. The accused is to appear in Stratford court at a later date.
Stolen trucks
ARTHUR – On April 18, Wellington County OPP received a report of a theft at an auto repair shop on Wellington Road 109 here.
Police say that at about 4:39am suspects forced open a lock-box, and stole two pickup trucks.
Both vehicles are Ram 1500 crew cab pickups with short boxes and step bars. The first is a beige 2019 Warlock edition with 20-inch black rims and dealer plate #814DSB. The second is a grey 2020 with winter rims and plate #BD82533. Both vehicle were last seen travelling east on Wellington Road 109.

Plethora of charges for business, driver
ELORA – A local business and one of its drivers are facing multiple charges related to an improper licence and failing to fill out inspection reports.
On April 7 at about 2:30pm a Wellington County OPP officer initiated a traffic stop of a commercial motor vehicle on David Street West in Elora.
A 23-year-old from Elora was charged with driving a commercial vehicle without a proper licence and failing to surrender a complete daily inspection report.
As a result of further investigation, an Elora landscaping business has been charged with permitting a person with an improper licence to drive a commercial vehicle, failing to ensure a daily inspection report is accurately completed, failing to display an inspection sticker or proof, and driving an overweight vehicle.
The business is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
No insurance
ARTHUR – On April 7 at about 4:30pm, a Wellington County OPP officer initiated a traffic stop on Smith Street here.
Police say a 29-year-old from Listowel was charged with driving without insurance and driving while suspended and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
No insurance, bad plates
WELLINGTON NORTH – On April 12 at about 4:30am, a Wellington County OPP officer initiated a traffic stop on Jones Baseline here.
Police say a 42-year-old from Arthur was charged with driving without insurance, using unauthorized plates, failing to surrender a permit and driving while suspended.
The accused is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
Business charged
FERGUS – On April 12 at about 10am a Wellington County OPP officer stopped a commercial vehicle on Belsyde Avenue East here.
Police say a Tiny Township farm installation business has been charged with permitting a person to drive a commercial motor vehicle not in accordance with regulations and failing to ensure performance standards are met.
“The vehicle was also taken out of service for safety defects,” police stated.
More commercial driving infractions
FERGUS – On April 12 at about 10:45am a Wellington County OPP officer stopped a commercial vehicle on Tower Street South here.
Police say a 46-year-old from Drumbo was charged with driving with a handheld communication device, failing to carry an inspection schedule and failing to surrender completed daily inspection reports.
Police noted the vehicle was taken out of service for safety defects.
Another driver, business charged
FERGUS – On April 12 at about 5pm a Wellington County OPP officer stopped a commercial vehicle on Gartshore Street here.
Police say the driver, a 30-year-old from Erin, was charged with failing to produce a licence.
As a result of further investigation, a Fergus utility installation business has been charged with operating an overweight vehicle, violating a permit and failing to ensure a daily inspection report is completed.
“The truck and trailer were also taken out of service for safety defects,” police stated.
