Police beat: Driver, business charged after steel coils fall off truck

GUELPH/ERAMOSA –  On June 23 at about 1:30pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a traffic hazard on Highway 7 at Wellington Road 32, west of Guelph. 

Police say “a turning tractor trailer had lost two coils of steel onto the roadway and was blocking traffic.”

A 45-year-old driver from Kingsville was charged with driving with an insecure load and failing to complete daily inspection reports. 

A business from South Woodslee, Ontario, was charged with allowing a driver to violate commercial vehicle regulations and  operating with an unsecured load.

“Traffic was delayed while equipment was brought in to move the debris,” police stated.

Trailer stolen

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – Wellington County OPP are investigating a theft from a rural residence on Wellington Road 30, near Guelph. 

Sometime between June 9 and 13, someone stole a 12-foot enclosed trailer containing numerous tools and equipment. 

The white trailer was decaled with “TheTirePros.com” logo, Ontario plate #T1691Y and contained approximately $20,000 worth of vehicle servicing equipment.

Didn’t stop for bus

ERIN – A Windsor driver has been charged after a vehicle did not stop for a school bus here.

Wellington County OPP officials say that on June 15 at about 8:45am, a black sedan had passed a school bus with its stop lights and signs activated on Wellington Road 22 in the Town of Erin. 

A 23-year-old driver from Windsor was charged with failing to stop for a school bus. He is to appear in Guelph court at a later date. 

Suspended driver

ERIN – On June 16 at about 11:45am a Wellington County OPP officer stopped the driver of a blue hatchback on Trafalgar Road here.

A 35-year-old driver from Caledon was charged with driving while suspended and driving without insurance. The defendant is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
