Novice driver, underage drinking

On June 12 just before 2:30am, Perth County OPP officers on patrol stopped a vehicle on Mitchell Road South, and alleged the novice driver had been consuming alcohol.

Additionally, two under-age passengers were in possession of suspected alcohol.

An 18-year-old resident of Huron East has been charged with being a novice driver and having a blood alcohol concentration above zero.

An 18-year-old resident of Minto Township has been charged with having liquor while under 19 years old.

A 17-year-old resident of North Perth has been charged with having liquor while under 19 years old.

Perth County OPP want to remind parents and young drivers that drivers age 21 or under, and novice drivers of any age (with G1, G2, M1, or M2 licences) must not have any alcohol in their blood when behind the wheel.

Cars ticketed, towed

GUELPH-ERAMOSA – The Wellington County OPP and Grand River Conservation Area (GRCA) staff are reminding Guelph Lake visitors that parking on Conservation Road, Wellington Road 124 and Kaine Hill Drive to access Guelph Lake – or for any other reason – is prohibited.

All the roads are signed as no parking areas and Kaine Hill Drive is clearly marked with multiple “tow away zone” signs along both sides of the road.

However, people continue to park in the area, police say, noting that between May 29 and June 2 the OPP issued 127 parking infraction notices as a result of complaints from area residents and community members.

“OPP officers continue to receive daily calls for service to the aforementioned areas in regards to unlawfully parked vehicles and trespassing on GRCA property,” stated Wellington OPP traffic seargent Darryl Porterfield.

“Strict enforcement will be exercised by the OPP to ensure compliance with the Wellington County bylaw and the Trespass to Property Act.”
