OPP warn motorists to lock vehicles

On Aug. 25, the Wellington County OPP received numerous reports of thefts from vehicles that were parked in driveways over the weekend in Fergus.

The suspect(s) entered unlocked vehicles and stolen were electronics (GPS, laptops, phones), money, identification, sunglasses and keys.

Police want to remind vehicle owners that thefts from vehicles are crimes of opportunity.

An unlocked vehicle door or an open window is an invitation to thieves, and keeping valuables out of view could prevent citizens from becoming a victim of theft.

Anyone with information regarding the vehicle entries and thefts is asked to contact Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip on-line at www.crimestoppersguelphwellington.com
