OPP traffic enforcement blitz in Erin

ERIN – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police are conducting a special enforcement initiative today and Thursday, cracking down on unsafe driving in Erin village.

The zero-tolerance, traffic enforcement on June 11 and June 13 is in response to public complaints about the aggressive behaviour of some drivers in the area.

“We’ll definitely be targeting the ‘Big 4’ (impaired operation, speeding, seat-belts and distracted driving) as they significantly endanger drivers on our highways,” said Wellington OPP traffic management unit manager, Sgt. Darryl Porterfield.

An OPP media release said the initiative would combine high and low-visibility enforcement operations.

Members of the public who know of an area where driving safety is an issue are encouraged to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
