Officer charged after cruiser hits light standard

A Wellington County OPP officer has been charged after a cruiser knocked down a traffic light here last week. Police say that on June 23 at 6am an OPP officer was making a left turn from Wellington Road 34 on to Wellington Road 46 when the cruiser collided with a light standard in the centre median, knocking it down.

The officer was not injured but the cruiser sustained “extensive damage,” police say.

Provincial Constable Jennifer Tschanz, a 12-year member of the OPP, was charged with making an unsafe turn.
