Emma “Jane” Watson (Nee Bell), 92, of Fergus Ontario, passed away on January 9th, 2025. Jane was born in Toronto on December 17th 1932. Beloved wife to Robert (Jack) Watson for over 68 years. Jane was born in Toronto on December 17th 1932, arriving several months ahead of schedule and kept warm above a radiator, in a bed made of a shoe box. Jane graduated from York Memorial High School. Jane married Robert (Jack) Watson September 27th, 1952; they were married 68 years. In addition to her family, Jane had a love for many crafts, needlework, sewing, knitting, and was excellent at weaving. Jane loved to travel and volunteer. She was known for her patience, attention to detail, generosity and sense of humor. Jane worked as a bookkeeper both professionally and as a volunteer. Jane dedicated her time to many different organizations in many capacities over a lifetime of volunteering. Jane was an avid crafter and a dedicated volunteer. She served as president of the Etobicoke and Ontario Handweavers and Spinners guilds. She was a devout Christian, teaching Sunday School for many years and volunteering on many church committees at Cavalry Church, St Mark and Calvary Church West Toronto, and at St James in Fergus. Jane spent a great deal of time volunteering at the Fergus Seniors Centre and most fondly reflected on her time volunteering with the developmentally delayed in Toronto and neighbourlink. Jane is survived by her daughter Lynda, her favourite son in law Philip, daughter-in-law Jane, her grandchildren, Damion, Camille, Elizabeth and great grand-daughter Audrey. She is also survived by her Aunt Bea, cousins, nieces and nephews and many god children. Jane is preceded in death by her husband Robert (Jack) Watson, her parents Emma and Tom Bell, her son Gary Watson, and her brother Thomas Arthur Bell. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to St James Anglican Church Fergus, Heart and Stroke or the Lupus Foundation of Canada. The family of Emma Jane Watson wishes to thank Reverend Wardell and St. James Anglican Church Fergus. The funeral service was held on Saturday January 18th at the St James Anglican Church, 171 Queen St East, Fergus Ontario. Rev. Russell Wardell officiated. A visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th from 10am until service time at 11am. Interment will take place at a later date.
