SULSTON, William (Bill) Ward

January 14, 1943 - April 15, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce Bill passed away quietly at home, surrounded by family, after suffering for a number of years with a rare, incurable neurological disease. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Bill was predeceased by his father James (2000) and his mother Alberta (2008). Dearly loved husband of Pat (Reeve, Pearce-Gord 1988) for 33 years. Much loved father of Patrick (Angie), grandfather to Sydney (Jonathon), Connor (Justin), and Nicholas. Bill cherished his great grandchildren Mia, Nicholas, Mason, and Logan. Father to David (Donna) and their children Paula and Heather. Left to mourn his loss are his siblings Jack (Brenda), Bob (Debbie), and Betty (Don). He will be dearly missed by many brothers and sisters-in law and their spouses, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews from both of our families. Bill retired from the O.P.P. after 32 years of service. He enjoyed several years in Florida, as well as traveling to many parts of the world, cruising and golfing. Bill was very active for several years with the Crimes Stoppers program. He sat on the Waterloo Board and was the Past President for Ontario and Canada. Bill was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion for more than 33 years and will be missed by his many wonderful friends. He always had a smile, was full of humor, and loved to tell stories from his past adventures. There will be a legion service at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (280 St. David Street South, Fergus) on Apr. 29, 2025 at 6:45pm, followed by visitation from 7-9pm. A celebration of life will be held Apr. 30, 2025 at the Fergus Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 275 (500 Blair Street, Fergus) from 11:30am – 1pm. Reception from 12-1pm, followed by a service from 1-2pm. The reception will continue at the conclusion of the service. A private family interment will be held in the Princeton, Ontario cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the Legion Poppy Fund, Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.

“Billy, you have earned your rest now. Your great sense of humour, love of life, and your help and kindness to one and all will warm the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing you”.  – The bride
