SMITH, Castle Gordon

He loved playing his accordion and loved his dogs, but most of all loved his family. A true gentleman, born in Whitby, ON, he sacrificed so much for us. A veteran of WWII, he worked hard at General Motors and retired early so he could care for his beloved wife Evelyn. He moved to Elora to be closer to family after her passing. He walked every day with his dog Ben, then Laddie and Molly. So kind. He is survived by his son, Terry (Simmie) Smith (Surrey, B.C), twin daughters Janis (Michael) McGettrick (Canberra, Australia) and Randi Smith (Elora, ON). Loved and missed by his granddaughters in B.C, Carrie (Alan) McIntosh (Sydney, B.C), Erin (Sean) McKinley (Port Moody, B.C) and Amy Smith (Vernon), and twin granddaughters in Australia, Clare (Cole) Stimpson (Canberra, Australia) and Danielle (Michael) Fields (Caloundra, Australia). Also missed and adored by his great grandchildren, Ailish McKinley, Ethan McIntosh, Quinn and Colton Puhlman, Charlie and Rian Fields and Liam Stimpson. And of course his faithful companions Molly and Jordy. Special thanks to Dr. Easterbrook, palliative nurse Heather and of course my friend Bette Overholt-Barth for their devoted care and love of our Dad. Special thanks to our great friends Karen and David DiCicco for their love and support of Dad and his music. Also thank you to Amy and the staff at the Graham Giddy Funeral Home for their guidance and care. A Celebration of Life to follow. A private interment was held at Mount Lawn Cemetery, Whitby, ON. Donations in Castle’s memory may be made to the MS Society or The Humane Society.
