It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Norma Lucille Slater (nee Boucher) who passed away peacefully at Wellington Terrace on November 10, 2020 at the age of 98. We wish to thank Dr. Stickney and the staff of Wellington Terrace Long Term Care for the kindness and excellent care she received there. Beloved wife of 73 years of the late Robert Slater (2018). Dear mother of Wendy Schutt (Bernie), Geoff Slater (Joanne), and Richard Slater (Barb). Nana to Leah Schutt, Julia Schutt, Greg Schutt (Liz), Jennifer Pinkney (Jeremy), Kathryn Plumstead (Adam), and Hillary Rooyakkers (Joe). G-Nana to Allison Pinkney, Jack Pinkney, Nolan Pinkney, Natasha Plumstead, Addison Plumstead, Andelyn Rooyakkers, Archer Rooyakkers, Odin Rooyakkers and Benjamin Schutt. Norma was born in Toronto to Ernest and Alice Boucher on November 26, 1921, and was an only child. Norma married Robert in 1944 and their young family moved to Fergus in 1964. She loved gardening, flower arranging and sewing. Norma was a member of the Fergus Horticultural Society for many years and along with her husband Robert was very active in Melville United Church and she was a leader in C.G.I.T. She was always dressed fashionably and was known for her stylish hats she made, some of which can be found at the Wellington County Museum and Archives. A private family ceremony will take place at the interment at the Belsyde Cemetery on November 28, 2020 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Fergus.
