SCOTT, Elizabeth (Betty)

March 22, 1937 - January 26, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Scott (née Fletcher), March 22, 1937 – January 26, 2023 Loving wife of 67 years to Lloyd Douglas Scott. Mom to Carol (Dave) Geddes, Jeff (Linda) Scott, Rick (Sharon) Scott and Karen (Patrick) Caplice. Proud Grandma to Brent (Tracey) Geddes, Crystal (Aaron) Bailey, Brock (Leigh) Scott, Brittney Scott, Ryley (Jennifer) Scott, Kaileigh (Ryan) Osburn, Tali Scott (Scott Spike), Brady (Noelle) Scott, Madison and Quinn Caplice. Great Grandmother to Blair, Dannika and James Geddes, Brooke and Keaton Bailey, Parker, Cooper and Rory Osburn, Lochlan and Mack Scott, Hennie, Nora and Dawson Scott. She is survived by her sister Jean Bender, sisters-in-law Phyllis Fletcher and Audrey (Phil) Nyhoff. Predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Winnifred Fletcher and her brother Ray Fletcher. Betty was happiest holding onto one of her babies, large and small. She loved her family above everything and spending time at the cottage with them was a common occurrence. Her best memories were made there playing board games, cards and watching everyone play. She was always up for a boat ride or a tune by Lloyd and the kids, when she would get up to dance or tap her toes to the beat. Betty never missed a joke and lit up every room with her smile. She always matched names to faces and offered a personal greeting in their next meeting. Her creativity resulted in many crafts; paper tole, ceramics, knitting and she gave her many masterpieces away. She enjoyed travelling and spending winters in Florida with Lloyd and their friends. While she will be missed terribly by many, no one will miss her more than her beloved Lloydy. As long as she could see him, hold his hand, dance with him, she was happiest of all. Betty will find the best place in Heaven and be ready for the day she can hold hands and dance with her Lloydy again. May she be at peace knowing she is deeply loved and missed. Visitation took place on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Alma Community Centre (51 Simpson St. E., Alma). A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 1pm at the Alma Community Centre, with 1 hour of visitation to be held prior, from 12-1pm. Following the Funeral Service, family and friends were invited to remain at the Community Centre for a time of fellowship and refreshments. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, the Groves Memorial Community Hospital Foundation or to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (Alma), and are greatly appreciated by her family.
