It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary “Hilda” Richard (née Pitre) (90), on April 24, 2025 at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, ON. Hilda was the cherished wife of Eldon Richard (deceased) for 65 years, and cherished mother of David of Fergus, ON, Betty (Gerry) of Port Elgin, ON, Marc (Lisa) of Cambridge, ON, and Chris (Kris) of Mannheim, ON. Hilda received no greater joy than to be surrounded by her 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Hilda held a special bond with her birth family, who resided in Ontario and the US, and is predeceased by her father, Howard Pitre and her mother, Veronica (Lavigne), along with her brothers Vincent, and John and her sisters Mary (Roberts), Vivian (Mills) and Theresa (Karnis). Hilda loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a very talented artist and loved to crochet, paint and for many years, tend to her gardens alongside her husband Eldon. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nursing staff and doctors at the Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, ON. No words can truly express the true sorrow we have in our hearts and how much we will miss our mom. We find comfort in knowing that she is finally with Pop, her beloved soulmate of 65 years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Joseph’s Church, Fergus ON.
