RATZ, June

(1925-2019) formerly of Harriston, and of Royal Terrace, Palmerston, at St. Joseph’s Heath Centre, Guelph, June Isabel (Rayson) Ratz on Friday, July 26, 2019 in her 95th year. Wife of the late Archie Manderson (1970), and the late John Ratz (2003). Loving mother of Harvey and Marg Manderson of Guelph, and Cam and Judy Manderson of Harriston, mother-in-law of Julie Manderson of Fergus, and step-mother of Ron, Lorne, and Ladyna Ratz. Grandmother of Heather Manderson, Murray and Jen Manderson, Marsha and Steve Harvey, Justin and Ashley Manderson, Jordan Manderson and Charlene, Bill and Kayla Manderson, Brooke Manderson and Mark Zwirgzdas, and Denver Manderson, and great-grandmother of Ila, Eliza, David, Nolan, Leo, Pierce, Lincoln, Payton, Elliott, Ashton, MacKenna, and James. Remembered by her sister Frances Lucas of Kelowna, B.C., and by her nieces and nephews. June was predeceased by her sons Lloyd Manderson (2003), and Brent Manderson (2014), brother Harry Rayson, sisters Florence Bridgewater and husband Len, Ruth Howes and husband George, and Norma Hunter and husband Harry, and by her brother-in-law Ray Lucas. June was a long-time member of Harriston Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 296 and a member of the Gypsy Campers Group. She loved the Legion jamborees and the Seniors dances (she loved to dance). June was an avid knitter of afghans, mitts, socks, and recently knit several squares for afghans creating warming blankets for patients having cancer treatment. Friends called at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Wednesday, July 31st from 7:00 to 9:00pm with a Legion Auxiliary Memorial Service at 6:45pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, August 1st at 2:00pm with visitation one hour prior. Reception at Harriston Legion to follow. Interment in Harriston Cemetery. Memorial donations to Harriston Legion, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or St. Joseph’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated.
