It is with tremendous sadness and heavy hearts that the family of John Robert ‘Jack’ Porterfield announce his passing from cancer on Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at Listowel Memorial Hospital with family by his side. Devoted husband of Bev (Petrie) Porterfield. Loving father of Susan Porterfield and her children Isaac and Alice, JoAnn Porterfield & Josh Doubleday and their children Ella and Aydia, and Doug & Cate Porterfield and their children Juliet, Sophie, Jack and James. Brother of the late Bill (Betty) Porterfield, Bernice (late Lloyd) McConachie, Joan (late John) Harrow, Jim (Pat) Porterfield, late Carol (late Norman) Binning, and Karen (Ross) Quanz. Predeceased by parents Cora and Les ‘Lesley’ Porterfield, raised by Ethel and Graham Clyde, and Grandma Wood/Noble, and guided by Neil and Marian Campbell, and Ella and Harold Stewart. Also loved by his in-laws Joe and Beth Petrie. Friendship, fun, and adventure was experienced by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the Porterfield and Petrie families, as well as by many treasured friends and neighbours whom Jack considered part of his family. Jack led a life brimming with love, laughter and unwavering Christian faith. Jack’s kindness and charm left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. We will be celebrating Jack’s life, love and laughter. Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on Sunday from 1:00 until 4:00pm. The funeral service was held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel, on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 11:00am, followed by a reception at the Agriculture Hall Listowel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation, Knox Presbyterian Church Listowel, or Palmerston Lions Railway Park (cheque made payable to Town of Minto/Lions Park) would be appreciated.
