PETTITT, Thomas Alan

Passed away with his wife Kathleen by his side on May 2nd at Groves Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. Thomas is survived by his wife, Kathleen, his children Barry (Janice) of Cambridge, Alan (Tammy) of Guelph, Rhonda of Guelph and Tawnya (Bruce) of Listowel. Thomas was the grandfather of 13, great grandfather of 2. He is survived by his brothers Jack, Frank and Gary. Thomas was predeceased by his grandson Matthew (1994). He enjoyed being around horses until his health no longer allowed him to do so. His grandchildren would look forward to coming to the farm to ride the horses – even if it meant grandpa had to chase the horse down the lane way with the grand kids struggling to stay on when the horse took off. When the children got older, they would love tagging along to the track with grandpa in hopes to get into the winner’s circle. His pride and joy was Camega’s Girl – which was his only horse that won a race in 2004.

“Dad was always there when I needed him, even if it meant putting himself out. Driving me to sports, even on no sleep or having to go into work late. Dad gave me every opportunity to play whatever sport I wanted; I always felt his support. I am going to miss bringing the kids out to the farm with my dogs and dad telling stories about our family and me being a little menace.” Barry

“Shake it off, crying won’t help, it is a long way from your heart” “Thank you for teaching me to cinch the saddle tight, and for the love you showed my children.” Alan

“I love you and hope you are at peace. You will be with me always; I love you too” Rhonda

“Growing up my dad would be the one who would do my hair – in buns too tight and too many bobby pins. I will forever be grateful to him for helping me raise my children and spending many years taking care of Coco. I know you and mom got grief for helping me as much as you did, but I promise you I got this from here. I will be sure to take care of mom and will be sure not to drive her as nuts as you did. Take care…” Tawnya
