We are heartbroken as we share the news that our Mom and beloved Gran, Anna Beverley (Bev) O’Gorman (née Boyle), passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Mom was 85 years young. Bev was married to the love of her life, Patrick O’Gorman for almost 58 years. Bev also leaves behind her two children Pat (Nadia) and Kelly (Jim). Her youngest daughter, Kerry, was taken from us too soon, 13 years ago, at the age of 37. She will also be very missed by her younger brother Bob (Karen). She was predeceased by her sister Jean (Kirke). Gran will be greatly missed by her Grandchildren Patrick, Maxena and Addison who she loved spending time with and being silly with. She will also be missed by her Nieces Leslie Jean (James), Jennifer (Alex), Kristin and Regan (Adam). Mom was an elementary school teacher who cared deeply for the young children she taught. When her children were born, she chose to stay home with them but was very involved in their school with volunteering and she never missed a sports practice or a game. When her husband Pat retired from teaching, they traveled with her brother Bob and sister-in-law Karen to Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal and Italy which they enjoyed immensely. Mom was also very active in St. Kevin’s Parish whether it was helping with the Catholic Women’s League or doing readings at Sunday’s mass. They spent a good part of their Winters at their son Paddy’s home in Marco Island Florida taking many boat rides, having dinners at the Tiki Hut and playing with their Grandchildren on the beach and in the water. They sold their family home in October of 2023 where they lived for over 50 years to move closer to Kelly as they needed to be close to family who could help. Mom and Dad loved their Sunday dinners at Kelly’s house with their Grandkids, family and friends. Mom lived everyday to the fullest, with joy, mischievousness and laughter. She was the life of the party wherever she went, she always made you feel loved and important and once you met her, you would never forget her. Hard to believe everybody, but Mom was head of the Temperance Movement at University, but don’t you worry, she saw the error of her ways and discovered that a glass of wine at Happy Hour was a great way to enjoy her evening. Her door was always open if you needed a friend, a hand to hold or a shoulder to lean on. The family would like to thank all of the Staff and Residents of Heritage River Retirement Residence for their unwavering kindness and support. What a truly lovely place for my Mom to have lived at in this chapter of her life. We had a drop in “Happy Hour” at Heritage River Retirement Residence on Friday April 11, 2025 from 3:30 until 6:00. We will then be having a Celebration of Life in the Greater Sudbury area at a later date which will be shared when arrangements are made. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Guelph Humane Society.
