Robert is survived by his brother Stan (Mary) Norris, and brother-in-law Barrie Elgie. Robert was born on May 16th, 1931 in Goldstone, Ontario and eventually settled on a farm outside of Arthur. He looked after the farm and also was a full time teacher, starting out teaching in one room country school houses and then at James McQueen Public School for 22 years. He was a caring and dedicated teacher and also an active member of Bethel Baptist Church, Fergus. After retiring, he enjoyed being in his woodworking shop, building and repairing many things and thus helping out many people. Dad and Mom moved to Fergus in 1972 and enjoyed 50 years in their home on Elora Street. Dad was involved with “Men for Missions” and went on mission trips to Haiti and Japan. He loved to be busy, always doing things for others. Dad was a hard worker and a very generous and caring person. He was devoted to his Saviour, Jesus Christ, and it is comforting to know that we will be reunited again some day. Thank you to Dr. Stickney for your many years of wonderful care. Thank you also to the staff at Highland Manor, Fergus. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 11:00am to 11:45am at Bethel Baptist Church, 675 Victoria Terrace, Fergus. A funeral service will follow at 12:00pm. Interment will be held immediately after the service at Belsyde Cemetery with a reception at the church to follow. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to Bethel Baptist Church or OMS Canada (Men for Missions) would be appreciated by Robert’s family.
